Dedicated Servers are fully dedicated hardware that is leased or rented to you, the customer, for the purpose of running Internet-based applications such as Web applications, mail service, database service, game servers, or some combination of all of these services.
Unlike shared or VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting where one server is shared among many clients, a dedicated server is "all yours" - no other services or resources are placed on the server other than what you install yourself or request from your provider.

Unmanaged Dedicated Servers

An unmanaged dedicated server is a server that is provided with a base operating system install such as CentOS, RedHat Enteprise, SuSE, Windows Server 2003, Debian, or FreeBSD and sometimes core server and application services such as Apache, IIS, MySQL, ASP.net, and PHP (depending on the underlying OS) and a Web-based server administration interface like cPanel, Plesk, Helm, or DirectAdmin. In the case of an unmanaged server the ongoing routine daily system and server administration as well as the technical configuration of additional server software applications such as Email, Web, DNS, Application (Java, PHP, etc), and database servers is the responsibility of the customer, not the provider of the dedicated server. The end-user / customer is also responsible for managing and providing off-site backups of all of their critical server data.

ServerMinds Unmanaged Dedicated Servers are provided with hardware and Internet connectivity support. We will cover the server if any hardware component fails and we will address all issues with loss or slow-down of Internet connectivity. • Full hardware support - we will repair any server hardware failure.
• Internet service support - we will support performance issues and downtime issues with Internet connectivity.
• Operating system and panel installation - Serverminds performs the initial installation of the operating system and control panel.
• Operating system and panel reloads - We will reload an operating system and/or control panel software.

Unmanaged dedicated servers do not include:

• General system or control panel administration of the server.
• Routing security fixes and updates, per the OS and panel vendors.
• Third party software installation, configuration, and management.
• Regular backups of data. We can provide as much storage as you need to provide an off-server rsync backup for an additional monthly charge.

In short, once we hand the server over to you it's considered your responsibility to manage and maintain.
Likewise you must make certain the Serverminds unmanaged dedicated server adheres to our Terms of Service and other policies.
